Maplewood Baptist Church Worship Leader

  • PURPOSE
  • This person shall be responsible for assisting the church in planning, conducting, and evaluation of a comprehensive music ministry.
  • Accountability
  • ·         The Worship Leader, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit with collaboration and direction of the Pastor, as needed, will plan, organize, and implement the music ministry. He/She will develop music opportunities and integrate the music program with the other programs and activities of the church.
  • Responsibilities
  • ·         Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of a comprehensive music ministry.
  • ·         Plan and direct weekly adult choir and/or praise team involvement in worship services, regularly scheduled rehearsals and Sunday morning warm-up rehearsals prior to worship and incorporating various instruments in worship, as appropriate
  • ·         Build the worship presentation on ProPresenter for each week’s service; as well as other special services.  This includes announcement graphics, countdown videos, song slides, etc.
  • ·         Encourage and facilitate involvement of children and youth in the music ministry.
  • ·         Plan and execute special choir presentations and liturgical seasons.
  • ·         Communicate with the pastor regularly in planning congregational services and the selection of music that will complement, at times, the pastor’s message.
  • ·         In the event of absence, notify the pastor, provide for a replacement and notify Pastor of replacement’s name and telephone number, and make sure all responsibilities are covered for that week’s worship services.
  • ·         Develop a program of congregational singing and leading the congregation in worship services.
  • ·         Seek out those willing and capable of contributing to the music life of the church and encourage the development of gifts of ministry in music. This would include soloists, ensembles and instrumentalists.
  • ·         Assist choir in coordinating community and social activities.
  • ·         Meet with accompanist and other musicians as needed.
  • ·         Prepare and administer music ministry budget. ·         Ensure that music materials, choir robes and equipment belonging to the church are properly cared for and stored.
  • ·         Update and maintain music library.
  • ·         Participate, as needed, in monthly and/or called staff meetings, church council meetings, designated church conference(s) to give a report of planned activities and accomplishments and other church activities. 
  • ·         Coordinate and lead music for special church services such as revivals, funerals, etc. as needed.
  • ·         Foster relationships with those outside of music programs to promote unity of all ministries.
  • ·         Be a visionary for the music ministries at Maplewood Baptist Church.
  • ·         Perform other duties related to music ministries upon mutual agreement.
  • * When possible, meetings will be scheduled on the same day as other activities to minimize travel requirements or conduct by teleconference

Forbush Baptist Church – Administrative Assistant/Church Secretary

Purpose: Perform secretarial duties related to church ministry; to assist the Pastor in scheduling appointments, typing correspondence and other necessary duties; to efficiently maintain the church office and, in conjunction with the ministerial staff, non ministerial staff and committee chair persons compile and print the church calendar, prayer lists, newsletter, bulletins and any other correspondence necessary.

The Administrative Assistant shall be employed and terminated by the church, based on a recommendation from the Personnel committee. The Administrative Assistant is responsible to the pastor and personnel committee. The Administrative Assistant is expected to be available for work during normal church business hours as determined by the church.

Responsibilities:

  1. Keep all information concerning church office business in the strictest confidence.
  2. Function as receptionist for the pastor during regular business hours.
  3. Greet visitors and guests during normal business hours, and direct them to the appropriate staff member.
  4. Make appropriate appointments during regular business hours.
  5. Compile and disperse all incoming and outgoing correspondence as necessary to the appropriate persons.
  6. Maintain and disperse all hospital, nursing home, shut-in and prayer lists as necessary according to HIPAA guidelines.
  7. Notify the deacon of the week of any special requests by the pastor pertaining to particular needs within the church membership.
  8. Maintain files of each standing committee’s minutes, and maintain all personnel files.
  9. Maintain calendar of baptismal services, observances of the Lord’s Supper, and any other special services with the assistance of the Pastor. Notify the appropriate committee of any scheduling changes as appropriate.
  10. Maintain a current copy of the Active and Inactive membership lists in the church office in conjunction with the Corporate Secretary/Church Clerk and Membership Committee.
  11. Maintain and distribute certificates for cemetery plots belonging to Active and Inactive members as directed by the Cemetery committee.
  12. Coordinate requests for Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary use for weddings and special events, and schedule with the custodian clean up after special events, as requested.
  13. Make church wide and small group announcements, as necessary, using the Phone Tree system.
  14. Prepare and mail church newsletter as appropriate, in conjunction with the Corporate Secretary/Church Clerk and Membership committee.
  15. Prepare and distribute church bulletins as necessary.
  16. Order and distribute necessary literature for all church organizations.
  17. Assist with the preparation and filing of any newspaper, television or Internet based advertisements.
  18. Maintain the key box located in the office, and be responsible for the issuance and return of keys for functions held at the church.
  19. Be responsible for the use and maintenance of the office copier and computer.
  20. Appropriately acknowledge monetary memorials made to the church, as directed by the financial secretary and treasurer.
  21. Maintain the Petty Cash box for office supplies as necessary.
  22. Serve on the Church Council.
  23. Maintain a Master copy of the Church Calendar, birthday list, committee list, mailing list, and membership status list, in conjunction with the appropriate church personnel or committee.
  24. Perform any other duties assigned by the Pastor or Personnel Committee.
